Becoming: Preparing for Motherhood from the Inside Out

A two-day workshop to help you feel more confident, grounded, and supported as you step into motherhood.

Time & Location

Jun 13, 2026, 9:00 AM

Her Sanctuary at The Ford Building, 2505 SE 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97202, USA

About the event

You’ve read the books.

You’ve built the registry.

You’ve prepared the nursery.

You’ve tracked every week of your pregnancy.

But very few women are taught how to prepare for the transition into motherhood itself.

The emotional shift.

The overwhelm.

The identity change.

The pressure on relationships.

The feeling of losing yourself while trying to care for someone else.

As a result, many women enter postpartum feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and shocked by how hard the transition can actually feel.

Motherhood is beautiful.

And it is also physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding.

This workshop is designed to help make that transition easier — so you feel more confident, supported, and less lost as you step into motherhood.

This is not a traditional birth class.

This is preparation for you.

✨ What you’ll walk away with:

  • A plan for building your support system before baby arrives

  • Tools to communicate with your partner in vulnerable postpartum moments

  • A better understanding of your stress response and nervous system

  • More confidence in your intuition and decision-making

  • Clarity on what actually matters in the early postpartum weeks (hint: it’s probably not more cute onesies)

  • Realistic expectations around newborn sleep, feeding, and recovery

  • Learning about your pelvic floor and how to support yourself during recovery

  • Tools for advocating for your needs with providers, partners, and support systems

  • Access to trusted postpartum resources and professionals, including lactation and pelvic floor support

  • Connection with other expecting moms navigating this same transition

🌿 Together, we focus on three core pillars:

Understanding Yourself

Learn what’s happening emotionally, mentally, and physically during the transition into motherhood—so you’re not caught off guard by the realities of postpartum.

Trusting Yourself

Build confidence in your intuition, decision-making, and ability to navigate the constant noise and opinions surrounding motherhood.

Advocating for Yourself

Learn how to communicate your needs, ask for support, and advocate for your physical and emotional wellbeing with your partner, providers, and support system.

Facilitated by Caitlin Cunningham, Owner and Creator of Papillon Collective. Read more about Caitlin here.

Co-facilitated by Stassi Chaillé, LPC and a Columbia-trained therapist and the founder of System-Keeping™ — the first clinical framework to name the root cause of women's self-abandonment. After a decade inside the clinical room with women at every stage of motherhood, she coined the term to describe what the books don't cover and the prep classes don't touch: the invisible, unconsented labor women are conditioned to carry — and how motherhood is often where they first feel the full weight of it.
